STOCKTONIANS DO THE DOUBLE OVER BORO

15th January 2022

A largely youthful squad visited Green Lane and came away with the league points.

With Skipper Mat Turner isolating because of COVID and regular support team Bash and Stan otherwise engaged, it fell to Colts supremo Pete Ewart to keep the show on the road .

And it was an impressive performance too with already Stockton leading 21-12 at half time against a combative Boro, with tries from Will Hulyer, Te Kori Moore and Gabriel Adamson.

Stockton started the second half poorly and let Boro get back into the game, scoring 2 quick tries. Poor discipline also slipped in and we were down to 13 players as a result of two yellow cards in the space of a minute. The remaining 13 players battled valiantly for those 10 minutes and that set the benchmark for the  rest of the game where the Stocktonians scored another 24 second half points with tries from Hulyer, Moore, Ben Draper and Anthony Jones.

Moore converted 5 of the 7 tries.

A cameo performance from sub Keith Kelly (much to his delight rather than starting at prop) stemmed the Boro fightback!

The final score was Boro 29 Stocktonians 45 , almost a repeat of our early season victory at Grangefield
