With weather perfect for touch rugby, the Steelers convoy found its way to the Catterick crusaders home pitch deep within the garrison.
Ash won the toss (well the rock, paper, scissors) and Stockton started with the ball. The early exchanges were even until Joeli carved through to open the scoring. Stockton then extended their lead with a try for captain Ash.
Catterick came back strongly and despite Stockton’s defence being very well organised they brought the score back to 2-1 at half time.
The half time mood was positive and Stockton started the 2nd half with hi speed defence forcing errors from a lively Catterick attack.
Stockton’s players grew in confidence and this was rewarded with a couple of great tries for Mel and Joeli. Catterick came back again to make it 4-3, buttheir joy was short lived as Ash and joeli both crossed the whitewash again to make it 6-3.
Catterick then scored a late consolation score as we finished up 6-4 to Stockton.
Alongside the victory, the most satisfying part of today was the attitude and application of everyone. It really is a pleasure to be part of this group. Standout performances today from Joeli, Ash, Guy, Luke, Millie, Mel and Sarah.
