Hi all, hope everyone is safe and well.
Some of you may be aware that the RFU has started to make tentative steps towards the restart of community rugby.
We are currently at stage B of the roadmap (see below) that has been created, in real terms this means we are able to train in small groups of 6 using balls and equipment, with the appropriate safeguarding and social distancing measures in place.
For us that means ensuring those who train are fully supported and risk free. Initially that may mean some changes, hand sanitisers will be in place, we will have access to thermal imaging cameras and forehead thermometers, all equipment will be cleaned prior to use and our sports hall and clubhouse will be deep cleaned.
Whilst the risk to our members is minimal, we must ensure your rugby experience is carried out in a safe environment. We already have our senior men and women undertaking some training in small groups, and as of w/c 20th July we are inviting our 13s – 18s back to training on their usual nights, with the younger age groups following in August.
Age grade competitive matches will return when it’s safe to do so, if not in September then we envisage a return in October at the latest.
Meanwhile we want to welcome our rugby family back to the club and training facilities You will see some other changes when you return, we are putting drainage in all of the pitches, we have a leased a new pitch and changing area at Grosvenor Road, which is next door to our facilities, we will have a new all weather training area and gym.
All of this had been possible because you have continued to support the club by paying your membership throughout the Covid pandemic.
The Times newspaper named us as one of the top 4 family clubs in the Country last season, let’s work together to make us the safest and best this year.
This is our town and our club.
Yours in Rugby
