Nowadays, every club leverages social media to boost its profile, but 15 years ago, this was almost unheard of.
Our very first Facebook post went live on August 20th, 2010, at a time when social media was still a new and evolving platform—especially as a marketing and recruitment tool for rugby clubs.
Owain Jenkins transformed the way we promote our club, and his impact is still felt today as we celebrate reaching 8,000 followers on Facebook alone.
It’s all about the stats - a snapshot of the Rockcliff game for those who thrive on the details.
Every aspect of the game can be broken down, from team performance to individual player metrics. Whether it’s tracking tackles, passes, meters gained, or possession percentages, data provides a deeper understanding of strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement.
Advanced analysis tools allow us to measure every movement, decision, and play, helping coaches and players refine strategies and optimise performance. Whether you’re looking at set-piece efficiency, defensive solidity, or attacking patterns, the numbers tell the full story.
Because in the modern game, knowledge is power—and the stats never lie.
FOUR GAMES UNBEATEN AS STOCKTON NOTCH BONUS POINT WIN AT WHITLEY BAY ROCKLIFF
A coach-load of players and supporters took a trip through the Tyne Tunnel this afternoon as Stockton faced good friends Rockliff for the first time in 3 years.
The home side made a quick start and after only 7 minutes were 10-0 ahead with Stockton seemingly still on the bus.
18 minutes into the game saw prop James Underwood crash over the tryline from close range with full back Ollie Shaw adding a conversion, then just 5 minutes later left wing Charlie Westgarth Graham went over in the left hand corner following a break from scrum half Brian Thwaites. Ollie Shaw added the conversion and Stockton were ahead 14-10.
28 minutes saw the home side take a one point lead with an unconverted try, but Stockton took a 4 point lead into half time as Harry Williams ghosted through the defence for an unconverted try.
Half time, Rockliff 15, Stockton 19.
At the start of the second half Stockton appeared to take control with 2 quick tries from centre Callum Piert and Harry Williams (again). Ollie Shaw added one conversion and Stockton’s sizeable following thought they were home and dry, with the score now at Stockton 31, Rockliff 15.
Rockliff had other ideas and two quick converted tries took them to within 2 points of the visitors, before 19 year old back row Regan Ritchie Shute forced his way over the try line to take the score to 36-29 in Stockton’s favour.
Rockliff still wouldn’t lie down and with 5 minutes left scored yet another good try to take them within two points, however with the last action of the game Stockton quickly moved the ball left for replacement wing Josh Crozier to outpace the defence for an unconverted try to make the final score Rockliff 36 - Stockton 41.
This was a highly entertaining game with two sides full of young players wanting to play running Rugby. Many thanks to our hosts at Rockliff RUFC for looking after us so well.
It is worth noting that, between them, the 2 sides had 25 Club produced players. Thanks too, to referee Adam Morrison (now of the Northumbria Referees Society) who certainly played his part in an open game. My personal Man of The Match was Harry Williams, who was always looking to attack the opposition try line.
Next week Stockton 1sts visit unbeaten Sunderland in a game that was frozen off in early January and our Saracens visit Consett
